We’re reaching the point where the easiest thing would be to look away, but we absolutely must not. It’s the least we can do, surely?

• Perhaps the ministers who are considering charging international tourists for access to museum collections (Ministers consider charging tourists to enter national museums in England, 26 March) could include some form of discount for those tourists who are viewing artefacts that were created by their ancestors and were once the property of their respective countries.
